So here it is!

On December 1, 2012, I gave a talk at TedxWaterlooWomen in Waterloo, Ontario. The event’s theme was “The Space Between” and my topic was “Having it All: Why we need new stories about female superheroes.” Here’s the wrap-up post I wrote in June 2012 about my day at TedxWaterlooWomen.

I’m so grateful to all the people who helped me prepare, who listened in the room that afternoon and who kept following up to ask how it went and where the video was. Your support means the world to me. I’m fortunate to still be in touch with many of you.

But I’m especially grateful to Elle Pyke who never gave up on seeing this project through after a lot of technical and financial hurtles around the video production. Thanks, Elle.

It’s interesting to watch it 13 months later. I would love to be able to throw in a note about the Lean In movement (for the record, the stories I touch on demonstrate the risks of leaning in so hard you fall over, which I’ve experienced myself) and other developments, but that’s revisionist history for you.

I will post a longer follow-up in a few weeks. I’d like to talk about the origins of this idea, which first started life as a conference paper.

But for now, I just want to enjoy this moment.

I hope you do, too.
